Christian Education

Our Christian Education and Discipleship Committee is very active and committed to providing stimulating educational opportunities for s-300x2251people of all ages.  This is a vital part of our growth as a community of faith.

Our Sunday School meets each week at 9:45 AM.  Currently, we have a broadly-graded class for elementary-aged children that meets downstairs in the Fellowship Hall.  They use Faith Alive curriculum, and they are taught by a very able teacher, Debbie Wolfgang.  Our teens have been participating in the Adult’s Class which has been using a book by Eugene Peterson, Tell It Slant. For the rest of this year, they will be studying selected readings from the book Devotional Classics edited by Richard Foster.  The Adult Class is taught by Rev. Purves and by our Seminary Intern.  Throughout the year the Sunday School holds special seasonal celebrations including an Advent lunch, an Easter Event, and a Pentecost Celebration.  A Youth Sunday is also planned each year.

midschool-300x2251Seasonal mid-week studies are held during Lent.  Sometimes we include field trips, movie nights, guest speakers, etc.  New Member Orientation events are scheduled as needed, usually twice each year.  A Couples’ Event will be held in the spring for those who are planning summer and autumn weddings.  In the summer our Book Group meets to discuss selected novels.

Vacation Bible School is held each year in June.  This is a fun-filled week for children from kindergarten through 6th grade.  The morning program includes music, crafts, Bible stories, recreation, and more. Each year we support a different mission.  The Chapel is transformed as we create a welcoming space for learning and fun.  Volunteers are always needed. Speak with Barb Gusew if you’d like to help this year!
